Looking at getting some Yokohama Geolander AT S tyres for the Surf, has anyone tried these or using them at the moment?
Found some at £119 each fitted.
Early days but so far very pleased and it was an excellent company to deal with - very helpful.
I had Yokohama winter tyres and was pleased with them and know someone, who is far more knowledgeable than me in these matters, who thinks very highly of Yokohama tyres in general although they are softer than some, such as the BFGs, and so won't last as long, all things being equal.
It depends what surface(s) you are drving on of course.
Wet tarmac mostly for me. Just put four of these on:
Michelin Latitude Tour HP - 265/70 R16 112H TL Fuel
Eff.: C Wet Grip: C NoiseClass: 2 Noise: 71dB
Prior to that I was on Vredestein Quatrac 3 SUVs for about 20K.
The Michelins are quieter, not massively. Both good in wet, although I am not trying to provoke the back out in commuter traffic on narrow roads.
Before that the truck had GG-AT2s and they went fine in snow but were gash at stopping in the wet, and nay effer seemed to be able to balance them to my liking.
I use general grabber AT's. I feel they are better in the wet than AT2's. Can't justify mud tyres and going by the recent weather rumours will need a spare set of wheels with snow tyres.
Thanks for the replies, so the Yokohama tyres sound ok for me for road use only.
Anything will be better than the three baldys I've got at the moment !
