I tried that, couldn't get to the screw at the bottom and ended up breaking the glove box, now every time I open it, it falls off. :-(

In the new 3.0L I have this stereo which doesn't get uk stations. I would like to change it for a double din uk unit but the pain in the arse that is the dash is putting me off at the moment.

I also quite like the stereo and its neatness, but it hasn't got a 3.5mm jack for my Iphone.

I am yet to find a decent guide to get at the stereo, can anyone help?!

It's a piece of ####. Just lots of screws. Once you've done it...the rest of the times can be done without issue.

Just remember which screw goes where.

Cheers for the info, I'll wait til Halfrauds are doing an offer on a double din and set to it.

I went to Halfords yesterday and they had a deal on a Alpine double din stereo. All the features I wanted such as playing and charging my Iphone and it was reduced to £129.

To anyone who hasn't swapped a stereo in a surf it is pretty daunting as you have to take the whole of the lower dash apart. It is however not as bad is it seems. If you follow all the steps in this link http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs...PDF/869017.pdf (It is for a LHD surf so some of the screws are the opposite side to what it says but you can find them easily enough.

Once I had the dash apart I could see that some monkey had been playing snippety snip behind the old stereo with the wires. Luckily most things were labelled so I could match the wires up and swap one wire at a time.

It is now all done, looks perfect, sounds good, and the electric aerial goes up and down with the stereo on/off button.

                      So, well pleased.
