  • Double Trouble...

May I introduce my 2nd surf! (its the one on the right!)

I haven't told the Mrs yet, and I'm not sure the old "I know I've got one already, but this is the 3.0L! version" excuse will cut much mustard!

Its an L reg 3.0L SSRX Auto, I'm planning on tidying it a little and getting it the way I want then I may sell the 2.4.

Annoyingly I have just had new rear springs, bushes and a front exhaust section on the 2.4!

    anyway, here are some pics...

    If I like it, Bushwhacker doesn't. :-)

New one looks like it needs rear springs as well.

Yeah, I don't want to buy new ones, but I don't to take the ones off the 2.4 either as it will reduce its value.

Looks like I might have to fork out for some new ones.

Ben if I were you I'd rob the good bits for yours, the value change will be less than it costs you to buy the bits for your new one.

Or keep 2 for spares ... no don't do that, then I can't sell you anything

I think I will do that, just a pain swapping the springs and I hate the idea that my 2.4 will be left saggy and without its good bits!

The new ones rear window moves an inch at a time, so I imagine I'll need a motor if it doesn't start working after some WD40.

Fingers crossed for you....worth wiping the panel off and checking the state of corrosion on the window runner while your in a window fixing mood and spray a little grease on the regulator?

In the 2.4 It was a bit slow so sprayed and greased everything to see if I could make it last longer. The one in the 3.0 doesn't really go down so im not expecting much, but worth a try. You got a spare motor? Or was that the first thing to go?!

Sadly the motor went with the tailgate and was smashed to bits by TNT....

Won't be using them again I can tell you, they're a pain to get the cash from too...luckily the guy I sold it to was ok about it and got what he needed to fix his...though I paid him back the shipping...

Nice upgrade JC. For all the hassle, I wouldn't go swapping parts over. Leaving the 2.4 as it is, and buying new springs or spacers, and ARB bushes for the 3.0 is the way I'd do it.

That's what conclusion I have come to, although I might swap the wheels as the 2.4 has nearly new ones on.

I'm looking forward to getting to work on it when I get time after the busy bank holiday.

I did notice the 3.0 sounds like more of a diesel, the 2.4 had an element of range rover roar to it.
