I was VERY careful to use the word 'apparently' !

Previous posters have made the comment that their Surfs were better on ATs in the snow than they were on MTs - I just passed on the info as I've been perfectly happy with my GG AT2s on tarmac, mud and snow and haven't felt the need to try MTs

Life is too important to take seriously !

I think it's the other way about. The tread on ats allowed the snow to stick to the snow and give more traction. Muds have a wider tread and are not as effective. Now I don't know if this is right or wrong but I do know I've had fun in snow running both

Sorry to be dim, what's "LSD" other than the mind altering substance?

Also, anyone tried winter tyres on these trucks?

Limited Slip Differential; I believe it was a factory option in Japan. On your VIN plate the "Trans / Axle" bit will tell you what you have if you google the code. My 2nd gen has a G145.

As for winter tyres, I stuck Vredestein Wintrac Xtremes on and can highly recommend them for wet grip but have so far not used them on snow.
