Tyres and rear diff type will have a big say in this.
Good tyres + LSD = no need for 4wd in most cases.Comment

I 2wd it everywhere, no lsd and mud tyres, was very controllable sideways.

The muds on the old 2.4 were superb in the snow. They need letting down a bit mind.Non intercooled nothing.Comment

Isn't the "theory" that ATs are self-cleaning and muds allow the snow to compact into the threads etc. Hence some muds being bad on snow?
Or something like that

I hope we get snow like the start of the year again, I will definitely have a v8 and maybe a self recovery winch by then.
