3 litre kzn, engine idle problem, can any one help please

I have a 3 litre diesel, the engine has just started to hunt, ie revs up and down when idling can any one please help.

Does it do it on fast idle? Lots of smoke? Probably an injector

Hunting can be a sign your valve settings are awry. Have you run a diagnostic to check out potential pump problems.

hi thanks for the reply, if I stop in traffic the engine idle is up and down, there is no smoke . just had it motd the mechanic said the egr valve but couldn't find it.

Do a search on here or Google for EGR valve, but I would definitely run a diagnostic, to see if any fault codes appear.

Check the air temp sensor is plugged into the air filter can's outlet elbow.
