I hope you all have a great time. I also don't mean any offence by my question. Is it the norm down south to invite too a party and then inform all to bring their own food and beer.

Don't get me wrong everyone of my friends would turn up with drink and sometimes flowers for the wife, however, I would have enough food and drink in for all or the invite wouldn't go out. Or is it that people down your way would turn up empty handed if not asked? I am genuinely interested in the different accepted social norms and views.

Not sure what's normal in sunny Surrey.

Might be i'm a tight Scottish git .

Brian you are correct. I should not invite & then ask Andy to bring food or beer.

Apologies to Andy. Beer & man hug due

What a strange thread, considering you can PM each other.

but don't mention Reading and hospitality in the same sentence

It's OK to mention Reading and inhospitality in the same sentence though.
