pretty much used for the same thing here!
instead of spotting lions and elephants i use them for spotting hoodies and doggers!!

The best place to stick the blue star is at the top of the screen behind the mirror. You will be spotted easier and flashed (waved at) by fellow members.

AFAIK it is designed to be placed behind your rear view mirror. You will never see it, but others will see it in their rear view mirrors. It is symetrical and can be viewed both forward and back. The designer, Frus Xulih was a founding member of this forum and refelecting back on his posts, I suppose he mirrored a lot of the great designers of the time, with it's simple, yet bold lines.
