I have been watching and waiting, preparing for the moment that one of you lot finally makes an unarguably defamatory statement on here, whereupon I can pounce, sue you for meeellions of dollars, and retire to the Riviera.

So finally, gwh200, how dare you! The knocking shop was in Maida Vale, not Knightsbridge. And its Suzie at the weekends, not Susan. Ha! The writ is in the post...

      PS Richard - will pm.

My youngest has just finished the second year of his LLB and reckons that IPL is interesting

Life is too important to take seriously !

Yes have been very busy what with one thing and t'other. Building projects, and work mostly - has been keeping me out of mischief. What's new in the world of Surfdom?

                    Nice one Gra !

My lad uses that one regularly, mentioned it in a lecture once - got a grin from the lecturer and confused looks from most of the other students

We ought to mention that it is not 'vs' it is 'v'.

The 'v' does not stand for 'versus', it stands for 'and'. Of course.

Here endeth everything I remember from 3 years of law lectures.

Well without wanting to be a pedant, v does stand for versus. It is just that in the great tradition of ensuring that the Courts are mysterious and nightmarish places for all who are not lawyers, it is always said as "X and Y", not X v Y. But no-one could tell you why I suspect.

It is just one of those things like people saying that they don't want to be a pedant when actually they want to be a pedant...

Is that counsel's opinion? It seems a bit definitive.
