Don't bother Charlie - they'll stitch you up even if it's only a skateboard they're quoting for !

Just had a renewal in from Flux for £243 but they ain't getting it cos the better half has got a quote from Aviva for £200 - she's sorting it all out tomorrow

Is that insuring a surf as a 4runner? Aviva just quoted me 185 quid fully comp.(272 with recovery) that's got to be too good to be legal...

If they insure it as something it isn't; it is.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

Funny you should say that, a chap at Aviva said he was quite happy to insure it based on a 3rd gen ... I said yebbut it's a second gen, he said yes, thats fine and all legal...

That raises an interesting point. How would the law, being even more pedantic than us, look at that conversation come claim time?

I had this when insuring when my first Surf, two different insurance companies told me it would be a 4Runner on the paperwork, but its not I said. Thats fine it will be all ok they said, ok please put that in writing that you know the veh is a Surf but willing to insure it as a 4Runner.
Funny enough I never received anything in writing to that effect, the company I finally went with did insure it as a Surf and said if the others had insured it as a 4Runner that it would not be legal and without anything in writing from the insurance to that effect you would be stuffed on any claim and proving your veh was insured correctly.
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

                    Regarding the credit payments...

Get a new credit card with a years interest free on it and pay for the insurance on that. Cut up the card (so you're not tempted to put anything else on it) and pay it off over the year.

                    Rob.

Anyone tried getting 4runner badges and getting the logbook changed to 4 runner?

                        Chassis numbers are totally different.

Easier to buy a 4runner chassis and do a body swap a la 'S Car Go'

tbh the insurance isn't really that bad for an import ? - I paid £420 fully comp from flux for mine and its lifted 4" / lots of modifications all declared.

                        Rob.

Yebbut given the insurance randomator is getting me quotes like that for a std Surf, No one will even give me a quote without spending 15 minutes on the phone, and a std 4 runners so cheap and easy to insure..(and also my extreme intolerance of chancers phoning me on the off chance of selling me something.. The insurance on last years crappy little van just ran out and I'm getting masses of phonecalls and emails because I used meercats and money supermarket to get quotes last year. It was a struggle to pick out the reminder from Flux because of all the other shite i'm getting...)

I usually go for a single run through a comparison site and take the best quote to Swinton followed by A Plan in town - A plan usually come up trumps

I'm with Flux. My certificate lists my truck as: TOYOTA HILUX SURF (4-RUNNER)
