Loose wire - what is it ?

Folks,

I have just found a loose wire in the engine bay. It appear to come from a connector cluster of what would be 4 wires under the glow plug fuses.

What is it and should I just reconnect. Everything seems to work on the truck (apart from the rev counter) !

I took a picture but it seems to be too big to upload !

Looks like the wire that goes to air con pump..

Electricity is not my bag, but it really looks like it has snapped away from that cluster of 4 with the blur circles, there is a 4th below those 3 just out of view.

I shall try and trace and see where it goes, failing that....

I am going to try and figure out how to re-attach and see what happens.

The air con seems to work either in manual mode or when on "auto" but it is not exactly ice cold and I assume it just needs re-gassing.

What colour/s is the wire?

Yes - yellow with a black stripe.

Thats usually for the oil pressure light/gauge.

The switch that the wire connects to is down on the side of the engine block.

I shall try and reconnect and see what happens.

I don't have an oil pressure gauge, I do have the usual red oil can light that comes on when the ignition is turned but that goes out as it should.

The loose wire did not come from where I thought !

I used a mirror to look under that cluster and all 4 wires had a connection.

The picture attached shows where the wire actually came from (that grey connector above the belt in the picture) and it does appear to be something to do with the air con. I connected it up, switched on the a/c and suddenly freezing cold air...

A nice result once again for the complete novice.
