What sort of time span is required in removing and replacing the rad on a surf, did this on my soarer but a lot of stuff has to be removed before starting on the rad. Ac-quired new surf rad for £95.00 + vat today.

Should get it done at a nice easy pace within an hour.
On the 3.0 you should be able to do it without removing the fan as the fan shroud is in 2 parts (theres 2 metal clips halfway up the shroud holding them together)
I did this 3 weeks ago So .....
Disconnect earths just in case
Remove bash plate.
unclip and pull off bottom hose from rad. Remove top hose completely.
Unbolt the solid vac pipe from top of rad and move back out the way.
remove the atf pipes from rad - block up with 10mm drill bits or 3/8 ratchet extensions or whatever..
2 clips on shroud, 4 10mm bolts on shroud - remove shroud
4 12mm bolts on radiator.
Lift out rad.
As haynes manual would say fitting is reverse of removing.

Thanks rob, really appreciate that bit of information, especially the split fan shroud, I have two batteries will I need to remove the right hand one (looking from the front) as it appears to be very close to the rad side . I use unused mastic tube nozzles as they are tapered and fit the transmission fluid lines perfectly.Last edited by soramad; 11 May 2013, 21:06.
