L***R***r to go?

There was a bit on the business news on Radio2 today about a certain well known Solihul based 4x4 manufacturer. Apparently Ford management are somewhat less than pleased that sales are down 30% and productivity and quality are cr*p, so they told Solihul bosses to come up with a plan to fix it. This they did and Ford took one look at it, ripped it up and said "must try harder". They know have one week to resubmit an acceptable plan to sort the mess or Ford have threatened to shut Solihul and shift remaining production to Jaguar plants where they have loads of spare capacity (this they can apparently do in 30 days!).

This all goes to confirm what I have heard from various people over the years - going into Solihul is like stepping back 20 years. Must be a mess if even Ford can't sort it out.

I have driven a few fords over the years both Australian and English ones, and I can tell you that as far as quality goes this sounds a bit like throwing rocks in the greenhouse .
