red dust round turbo area

a friend of mine got a standard, no modified 2.4 92
he doesn't use it offroad at all, nice and shiny at all times.
but something it bothers him and picked my curiosity is that around the turbo there shows a red colour dust as you can see in the pics.
what it could cause this?
he say that he clean it and then shows like that again.

not sure, i didn't see rust in that surf, he is too fossy

Maybe a long shot but check the air filter. Looks the same redish colour as the filter oil used on K&N filters. Maybe the filter is falling apart and that turbo hose has a hole in it.

In that case better check the glove box. May be a Martian or two in there.

Just remove the belt ans see if it comes back.
