  • Uh, oh... what have I done??

Fiddling about today on the Surf.. I removed the gearbox and transfer box (again...)

When the transfer box was out is managed to move the shifter rods..

There are two, one for High/Low ratio, one for front drive.

I seem to have moved the one for front drive too far forward, and now it is "stuck" there, and feel loose...Has anyone here experienced this?

I'd really rather not take the transfer case apart.. I assume something has dislocated... I am hoping there is an easy way to relocate it... It looks like there are some locating ball on springs, but I figured I'd ask here first before I delve into it...

Yes, I know I'm an idiot

Not anthing anyone else has done then?

I think I can fix it without pulling it all apart.

I'm guessing the ball and spring, next to the "stared" nut have gone past the end of the shaft. I just got in from work and undid said nut and it seems to move properly, now, I'll reassemble and check it out later... then update the thread.

    Fingers crossed!

        Fixed!

It was that ball bearing and spring as suspected...

Moral of the story... Don't Work on the truck when exhausted, and have a sleep and look at it with fresh eyes before panic intending!

        Also leave stuff alone...
