    Apparently they are also going to recover 'fatbergs' from the sewers! Massive lumps of fat that collect will then be burned as fuel.

        I'm involved in the cleaning of said systems and believe me, that stuff does not burn! Just smells like McDonalds!

          Oh it does burn. There are various ways to get it burning. and it does,as you must say Tankerman, smell of McDonalds.

            Eventually it does burn, but the cost of making energy from that source so far virtually cancels out any benefits. Much like most, although not all of the recycling/alternative energy schemes at the moment.

              I've scraped and jetted enough of that stuff off drains in the past, orrible shoit, (dont tast good either)
              suppose you could feed it into furnaces, might burn then

                  It doesnt. It's quite an established recondite process to get a burnable product. There would be oil, and solids. There are many ways to get energy from these products. Fluidised boilers, incinerator, Anerobic digestion, sludge incinerators ...
