  • She's here and after 24hrs...

    ...I love her

Today we all went out on a trip and it was great. Gonna be a great car to own.

Got lots planned and lots to sort. But she's really clean (apart from the boot carpet ).

Will be sorting wheels (steels or black refirb):

Selling on the large front bull bar (I like the common stock one).

    And lots more.

BUT tomorrow I will be tackling the tailgate window. It opens and shuts via the switch but ONLY shuts via the key. It will not open via the key. This makes it useless as I need to be able to lower it with the key.

I've already spent a little time, this afternoon, cleaning out the guts and getting it running far far smoother (like loads) with just silicone spray and WD40.

I will buy some new runners/rubbers as they're looking poorly. The rest is mint enough.

But I need to have a go at the key, tomorrow.

    Nice example.
Take the side steps off for an instant 'lift'
Those wheels are too nice to paint black.

They're not quite nice up close, unfortunately.

Looks great. I know what you mean having just spent 2 days painting my wheels. I thought about doing before and after pics as they were really gubbed but the pics don't really show how bad they were.

Have you made a thread about them?

I'd be interested in the journey

          Welcome to post pics here

            tailgate key

I had the exact same problem. I removed the tailgate panel to reveal the inners, cleaned teh contacts with, er, contact cleaning spray. cleaned the keyhole too, and it worked. in my case it was just all full of crud. I also greased the mechanism too.

To get the window up when the gate is down, you need to push the contacts in to fool the system into thinking the tailgate is up.

MAKE SURE there is something to support the glass so it doesnt fall out.

The front bumper is unfortunately a famously poor after-market one.

The rears are all real and looking great for 20-years-old.

The front needs replacing but not for £400+

And cheers LGM. Like I mentioned...the big lube has already happened (made a huge difference). Need to renew the runners for a smooth time, me thinks.

The key is going to be a bit more involved.

All fun and games. The whole point of my Surf revolution

                  Nice!

same colours and trim as mine

Dont look after that chrome shine... black it!

Both front and back bumpers on mine had rusted out in the corners so as part of stage one off they came, cleaned, bashed, fibre glassed the inside, filled the outside and repainted in smooth hammerite satin black... just finished the last coat on the front this avo.... the front grill and light surround are up for the black treatment next.

                  Photoshop

I'll treat myself to some mud tyres in the not too distant future and the side plates will be coming off once the wifes had the baby

I think you will find that you have plenty of Chelsea Tractors down there, they are the fcukers buying all the houses.

Mostly farmers and fishermen round ere bay.
