can anyone tell me the difference between the surf and the 4runner? do parts fit both?

Generally yes and no.
Depends what you are fitting from what donor vehicle to which recipient vehicle.

i`ve got a 95 4runner so what makes that different from the surf?

Between a Surf with the same engine and transmission of the same age? Not much.


As we are talking generalisations here in general the 4runners are generally in worse shape than their import counterparts, this is generally due to the corrosive salt that is generally put on the roads in the UK as apposed to the non corrosive grit used in Japan.Generally.
They also don't come with the dog lead stay on the n/s/f wing, generally.



Just had a look at the picture you posted of your truck are you sure that it is 4runner?
What does your log book say?
You have the N/S/F wing mirror.

the v5c doesnt give the make,type or model!! just says its a toyota. chassis kzn1309053770 with a 1kzte engine number! registered in the uk in 2005.

the only reason i know it as a 4runner is thats whats written down the side of the truck! i`ve never owned a 4x4 before so i know nothing about them! i have many mods i want to make so knowing the model will be a big help! i`ll try and add more photos now¬

98.5% percent certain you have the kzn130 Toyota Surf and not a 4runner.

i`ve only just noticed by downloading these photo`s that it says its a surf on the back but a 4runner on the side!!

Yep that is a Surf.
Just make sure that you have it insured as a Surf and not a 4runner.

2nd gen 4Runners have a foglight built into the tailgate, an elongated style rear numberplate and a lot more chassis rust.

Truth be told, they come over from Japan festooned with all sorts of modifications, accessories, and "artwork". some of which is desirable, and some not so. Looking at your fog lights, I'd venture to guess that you don't take it off road much......

i`ve not used it at all yet. i`ve had it 3 weeks but finding insurance is a pain as quotes have been too high! everytime i put the reg into a quote it comes back as a 4runner not a surf!! the v5c only says its a toyota and doesn`t say what model it is even though i now know it to be a surf! i`m planning on many mods so the fog light will be one of them. the graphics and side steps have already been removed and a new dab radio and a cb have been fitted and a lift is on the cards, there will also be new tyres, rock sliders, snorkel and spotlights so it should look a bit different by the time i`ve finished and its insured!

You'll never get a realistic on-line quote, you need to actually talk to the insurance company.
Have you tried Adrian Flux or Footman James?
