  • KZN185 Rear wheel bearing

Need some advice; I have had a squeaking/grinding noise coming from the rear end, which has turned out to be a rear wheel bearing.

I have had a quick look online, and have come up with a rear bearing kit from Roughtrax £47.99 and a kit from Milner off road £27,60. Anyone used these bearing kits, is the roughtrax better quality?

Am I right in thinking it would be best to replace both sides, or just the one that’s gone?

    Many Thanks,

    Tony,

Buy roughtrax ..do both if you can afford to and replace the rear axle / diff oil as well... you will need access to a press to do the job correctly

IMO, Roughtrax and Milners seem buy there parts from the same supplier.

Ask them to look in the kits and tell you what make the bearings are. KSM, Koyo, NTN, Nachi, NSK are all good quality Japanese bearings. Timken, SKF, FAG, SNR also good. I'd steer clear of anything made in India, China, or Russia.

Milner 4x4 off road use A KOYO / NACHI (JAPAN) brand bearing: http://www.milneroffroad.com/toyota-...ing-kit-1-side
The Roughtrax kit looks like it has the same bearing; http://www.roughtrax4x4.com/?doc=16&cid=177&vid=1073 I will call them on Tuesday and see if it’s the same as the Milner.
Anyone know roughly how much a garage would charge to do the work?

          Thanks again,

          Tony.
