Me and Mrs as named driver, mid-40s, 7 years ncd, clean licences held 20+ years, Gen 3 on drive, 10K P/a, social, domestic & commuting, Cat 1 Alarm, car on drive... Mentioned forum...
£514.
Not insane, per se, but well North of what I've been quoted for renewal with Direct Line.
Dude @ Flux had trouble looking up Hilux Surf. I kind of knew it would be a waste of time at that point, should have hung up.
I think it's a lottery with them as to their competence or desire to beat the other quotes.
Tried the comparison sites but I think having to pick-list a Prado will invalidate any insurance given.Surf if you got a wave. Wave if you got a Surf.™

Insurance is pants.
A Plan have been good to me in the past, but recently they went up, a lot. That's when I moved to Flux.
But Flux aren't Direct Line, so that's that.
In short you have to shop around. Everyones circumstances are different, so there is no "magic" insurance company that is cheaper than the rest. In fact, the agent is probably the most variable factor in the equation, so fight for that discount, then go to a competitor and do the same before returning with your nice new low quote..."B.A." Baracus: "Talk to me, talk sense so I can talk back. Not all this jibberjabber like breaking the peace and all that."

I moved to flux from A plan, good priced policy but what a performance to change, talk about bureaucracy gone mad , my wife was on my policy with A plan but because she could'nt find the paper part of her licence flux would not put her on the policy, having been threatened with having my policy withdrawn it was decided to leave her off, this cost me an extra £25.00, seems everybody wants to make money out of mistakes. Theres a strong possibillity that I will be going back to A plan next year.

Thanks Surfboy, tried them it's now between them and Sureterm. Both better for me than Adrian Flux
I've noticed that every company I speak to have 'Toyota Surf 4Runner 2.5 on their databases (or maybe it's a generic Db) and get really confused when you tell them it's a 3.0l, and then even more confused when I say automatic! They don't seem to have it listed, then you need to go into the 'it's an import, the 4runner is the UK model blah blah.....'
Update just speaking with Sureterm as I'm typing.....
Had a quote from Sureterm yesterday, dealt with a guy who kept forgetting the info I gave him, and he was really hung up on needing to know the exact date that I passed my test, anyway got a good quote of 320 on limited mileage of 8000.
Just found out that the guy I spoke to yesterday seems to have been insuring me on a 2.5 manual and not a 3L auto! ...........off to speak to Aplan again......6 out of 7 dwarves are not happy
