What's everyones favourite diesel for our engines? I had to fill up with BP Ultimate just before Christmas as it was the only diesel left at the garage I pulled in to. Truck seemed to run smoother and a little quieter compared to the supermarket stuff I usually throw in. I think I may have got slightly better MPG on that tank too light came on at about 590 Km whereas the truck normally needs feeding on average every 540ish Km. Similar driving on similar roads to what I normally do.

Back to work next week so will try another tank then as that is the running I have usually used to calculate fuel consumption.

Does anyone actually know what the difference is between the various diesels on offer?

    Cheers

I was told once that using the dregs that clean the engine is better than using redex every now and again. I runon veg derv mix and have to say some supermarkets derv makes the truck run like crap bp and she'll premium don't. I am ranting now so will shut up

If you have a look at the BP website they state that their diesel has the highest Cetane rating available in the uk.(55 as opposed to 51)
You will have to factor in the extra cost over a normal fuel to see if the benefits outweigh the cost.

Compare what the other retailers say about their fuel.

Will take a note over a few tanks when back on the commute, even if it doesn't actually save me anything in terms of cost per mile, using it can't be a bad thing if the truck feels and sounds a little better.

Think I'll give the Rhino stuff a miss thanks, an overdose of Redex at service time and a quick thrash for a few miles seems to clean out any crap that accumulates.

        Cheers

          I used it once,

Apart form feeling instantly poorer and strong sense of self loathing for spending extra, I didn't notice much difference.

          Anyway... Diesel... meh.
          More Lift.
          More Tyres.
          More Engine.
