ignition barrel help

Struggling to get my surf started with the key, not long ago brought a copy and been using it for a couple of weeks now, but gradually its become more hassle getting it to turn,so been giving it a jolly good wiggle around and eventually it turns, but the other day it wouldn't turn it at all no matter how much i tried.
in the end i grabbed the original, and F*** not even that turns it, well it does but i have to give it some.
So before i start getting loads of sarky remarks " Should have just used the original one". can someone advice on options, do i have to replace the barrel completely or can just the inside be changed ?

tried wd40 and grease and no change, still struggling to turn. does anyone have a barrel and key for gen 3, or am i better off getting a new key barrel ?
