No Brakes??

Travelling to work tonight, and had to avoid a deer suddenly, braked very hard and then nothing!!! no pressure in pedal. any ideas??

Broken rusted out brake pipe maybe, probably the ones over the rear axle. Clamber underneath and have a look for fluid...

i had this once and it was the main vacuum pipe off the brake servo had popped off. pushed it back on and fine again .
very scary moment though

Was the padal rock hard or soft?

Like Webbo said, sounds like a split pipe. I've had this happen at MOT time with older trucks on the brake rollers, look specificaly between the fuel tank and chassis, well, try to look you won't see much, but there will be fluid dripping is its corroded and split. Mud collects up there and rusts out the pipes.

Hopefully its something easier though.

mine did that it was a russed pipe between fuel tank and chassi

sorry for not getting back to you all, long weekend??
I have found the leak, and its as people have said, its behind the fuel tank.
the top pipe has a good leak on it. as tony said plenty of rust.
the garage have told me they can re-route the line away from the tank, instead of having to take the tank off to work on the line, does this sound correct?

Sounds a reasonable cheaper fix to me. Go for it. or why not do it yourself ?

mine cost about 8 pound to fix got brake pipe from bullseye motor discount think lenth of pipe was about 15 foot so changed them both hardest part of job was empting the fuel tant and removing the tank bolt was rusted in and took me a full day change one pipe at a time
