  • Broke again!!

    Hi folks,

Can anyone shed any light on a problem i have at the moment?

The Surf has suddenly started taking a lot to get started, until recently it started first time and there is some white smoke coming from the exhaust. This only happens when its cold, once its does start its fine.
I am not the most mechanically minded but had a look under the bonnet and found a belt which had snapped! Its not the aircon belt as have already removed this as the pump is knackered.
It runs a pulley below the alternator on the left hand side at the bottom, is this gonna be ok to run or is it likely to be serious?
I have attached a couple of photos of the offending pulley. The code on the belt is: 90916-02211

    Cheers for looking

    Bruce (the surf killer!!)

the pulley looks like your idler pulley for your air-con belt for adjusting belt tension.
have you checked your heater plugs to see if their working, check to see if theirs power going to them,if their is check the plugs themselves and if theirs not check the fuse for the heater plugs.if its gone replace it but make sure you dont have a short circuit anywhere as this will just blow the fuse again.

      Cheers for the advice!

Now for a really stupid question, where are the heaters plugs and the fuse located?
I have the fuel heater fuse (which is missing) but nit sure if where the heater stuff is?

Sorry, i know its a stupid question!

PS, the fuses for the glow plug looks ok

Cheers thats what i thought, it looks ok to me, the brass strip isnt broken so it may be a loose/broken wire somewhere.
I thnk i will have to get it checked at a garage, is it ok to drive around for a few days like it is or do I need to get it done as a priority?
          Thanks for the help guys!

                  Hi again,

Have just been attempting to check the plugs and ran into a problem. The plugs gave black screw caps on them but when i tried to undo them, two of them snapped, are these particularly important?
Also found that the one of the hoses off the air filter is split, could this be a cause for the difficult start up when cold?
Once again, thanks for the help
