New Surf Owner

So i brought my Surf about 3 weeks ago.
1991 3.0L Petrol .

Bump Stop greased up and im happy. However i was told that i should
get my Caddy Converter removed as it "Will save me petrol". Hopefully
some of you guys can give me some advice on what the hell this thing is before i go chopping it out .

Also im looking to fit a snorkel. Anyone have any advice on what to
look for?

You should be able to get an exhaust shop to chop out your catalytic converter and replace with some tube.
Don't let them charge you, they get quite a few quid in scrap from it.
