  • DAB car radio suggestions

I would like to get my wife a DAB radio/cd/mp3 setup for her Surf for christmas. Does anyone have any recommendations/experience for the unit and the aerial please?

    Cheers

I should probably add that the speakers are the original spec for the SSR-G, which I won't be upgrading at this point, so uber sound quality might be wasted.

I've got a Pioneer DEH-X6500DAB radio in my car absolutely brilliant you can plug an I Phone, Android phone and mp3 player

One of the main things is get the best aerial you can afford

Thankyou.... Halfords seem to be selling this on offer at the moment.

In terms of the 'best aerial' I could afford, do you mean make the jump from something magnetic mounted like this http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/Kinetic...ar_aerial.html to a roof mounted job like this http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/JVC_HAL...ar_aerial.html ?

        cheers

I go for the roof mounted aerial a bit of a pain to install but best option as the magnetic on could get knocked off or stolen

I'm no expert (it's been 35 years since I did any aerial theory) but I was under the impression that DAB radio didn't need a specialist aerial ?

I've got a blaupunkt woodstock dab with a 'through glass' stick on mobile type aerial. Great.

In my other car I use my iphone, the free dab ap and a connector.

It doesn't. Just one suited to the band. Didn't stop antenna fitters making a killing selling 'digital' antennas before the switch-over
