  • New Surf

Beginning of Oct I finished off the tranny on my red surf, no top gear or reverse (it's an auto). I picked up another surf I knew of, the guy got it from another province last year with a blown headgasket which turned into seized crank, he gave up after being into it for about $4k. Other than a half built motor the thing was minty with 108,000km and I picked it up for $1500. I swapped my motor over from the red one and it's been fun ever since!

Nice, Steve. Keep up the good work. Did you find that your 35"s were too tall/large to use?

                Thanks guys!

Yes it was the original rear axle, just added all the goodies to it. The brake kit is from Trail Gear, I'm actually a dealer for them:

                http://www.trail-gear.com/brakes

There is currently no e-brake but it's an auto so not a big deal. There are a couple options to remedy that but I'm not too worried about it at the moment.

I loved the 35s but the tranny not so much, if I went to 5.29 gears it would have been better. This truck is my daily driver with the odd wheeling so I didn't need to go as big, try and keep some decent fuel economy.

Cut the stock mount off the carrier and used a couple metal pieces and welded it all up.

Cool truck, some nice mods. Liking the rear bumper and the relocated spare in particular.
