  • Thieving Tuesdays!

Some thieving See You Next Tuesday has stollen the small covers that protect/hide the bolts on the spare wheel arm/carrier!

Found a set on eBay for £30 delivered. I've mailed Tony to see if he's got any as I'm thinking the price is a bit high, but if its fair I'd rather the money went to a forum member.

If the price is a bit high and Tony hasn't got a set, has anyone else? If Tony hasn't I'll stick a request in the wanted section.

Last thing, I take it they just clip on? Reason I noticed they're missing is that I'm looking to take the whole thing off and tidy up the rusty hinges, so when I get some new covers I'll super glue them on as once its all painted I won't be looking to remove them again.

IF there ever was a use for 3D printers...

Anyone come up with an effective method for treating the brown-ness on the hinges without removing the whole kaboodle?

I believe they just clip on, i did'nt get them with the carrier i got from ebay (didn't get the tailgate plate either, ba$tards) so i made the plate, striker etc,
for covers i made these alloy ones, thse bolt on from the hinge, scumbags cant just pull em off, the carrier btw i had nickel plated, it didn't come like that, it was scratched and worn, i couldn't get the plastic covers and i think 30 quid's a bit much although it depends how much you want them

Wash and brush it with hot water and Fairy liquid (Other dish liquids are available, apparently)
When clean and dry, spray with this......

Spray the hinges with the carrier fully open as well as in the closed position.

          Evening folks,

Seems I owe the thieves of this world an apology, turns out nothing has been stolen, I was on the phone with Si earlier today, he's so excited about his new 'car' he wanted someone to talk to about it, but he's gone all shy and doesn't want to tell you guys, but I'll leave him to do that in his own time

Anyway it turns out the truck never had those covers when I bought it I'm a ###! Oh well, typical of me really...

Cheers for the pics Popeye, that looks smart, very shiny!

Cheers for the info Vince, I'll have a crack at sorting mine this weekend.

Hey rog, I might put my name down this year for when the weather gets too bad for the emergency services & they need some assistance.
I'm sure my beast will get through it.
If its not broke don't fix it.

Oh ye Rog, if you look closely at the hinges you will see a small hole in them both, enough to poke a WD40 spout thingy in it. "Other lubricants are available"

Sounds like a plan Si, but just in case you get stuck too, very unlikely with the new car you've got, but IF you do, you know you can always give one of us Surf guys a shout to give you a bit of a hand to get unstuck :P

p.s. any pics of the new beast? Think its the right thing to do, show off your new wheels and all that

                        WD40 isn't a lubricant.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's
