  • Orders from USA?

I understand there is a need for aftermarket parts from the USA, such as Toytec.

I'm new here, obviously, but I would be willing to help order items from these companies to my home and then ship them to your place of residence across the ocean.

All of this of course on your dime. I would probably do this for free for the first person because i am looking to buy the 3rd gen hilux barometer/altimeter/etc on UK ebay as mentioned in the thread labeled "Field Monitor".

Otherwise i will charge a small amount, nothing that would make you not want to order the parts, just enough to make it worth my effort to wait in line at the post office. It's just an idea, and I dont expect it to go far, but i figured I'd give it a try.

Ask questions here. Remember I'm new to this also, but it sounds like a way for me to make a minor amount of money while im in school and to help each other out.

    Hi Sean,

This could be very helpful. I'm considering buying a few parts from the US, a Tundra brake upgrade for one, and my big concern is whether people in the States would be prepared to send it over here to the UK.

I'd be more than happy to get you a field monitor and post it to you, and when it comes to postage costs I wouldn't charge you triple the price as lots of people do on Ebay, if it costs me £10 to send it, then I'll only ask you for £10. Also as I say, I'm after a brake upgrade, which I imagine the parts will be quite heavy, so I'd maybe ask you to send them the slowest/cheapest method, but with postage insurance. I think if you label stuff as a gift or something you can potentially save on import charges or something too?

I've only had a quick look on Ebay US recently, but if you're serious about helping out with sending stuff over I'd be really grateful.

What you really need is a loving sister who lives in NJ,whose job requires frequent US/UK trips.

Hi Sean, this sounds like a great idea (forgive me but as long as your offer is genuine and not a con, no offence ment but ya never know with internet related stuff), would you extend this offer to other stuff? i'm thinking about model makeing items like kits and accessorys, (car and truck for myself) it always seems the model maker or whatever is far better catered for in the US than here, and if it is available here it's grossly over priced,
one thing to bear in mind is getting hit for VAT when stuff arrived from abroad, it's a bit of a lottery as to wether or not you get charged, plus the bstds charge VAT on the total amount so your paying vat on the cost of the item, united states tax, shipping, it's supposed to be that items under £15 in value dont get charged but i got charged £14 for a set of model wheels which were really a gift and the guy put 50c in the value box!!! figure that one!!
so great offer but be prepaired for the buyer to end up paying vat!
anything i'd want would be small in size like made up distributor cap/leads etc and mayby ross gibson engines,
if you do want anything you find on ebay over here i'm prepaied to get it for ya and ship, if you want to email me it's ian.price90@ntlworld.com
(as you cant subcribe and get the blue star and hence the personal messageing)

Do you know what mate? There isn't two days that go past I don't think about it. I've committed myself to another project at the moment (nothing to do with things that have engines) but as the truck is a keeper this will happen one day.........and hopefully you will be the first to know

haha, i'm an internet skeptic as well. but I will require you to pay first since I am a college student.

But what I may do is order the monitor and have you ship it to me first so you will have my money before I have yours.

secondly, the tundra brake upgrade is an amazing addition to the 4runner and is especially helpful when towing a heavy trailer. It is very heavy though, but i'm sure sending it on a 3 week long voyage would be cheaper then shipping it on a jet. Like i said i'm new to this so the best thing for me to do is go the the local FedEx office and UPS office and ask questions and get pricing.

And yes, I would be willing to ship more than just T4R items for ya.

I think it can be the beginning of a good business relationship for both of us if youre willing to give me a shot and your patient.

Hi Sean, I might order something small/cheap first and see how we get on with Customs before I dive in and go for the Tundra brakes

Have you done the Tundra brake upgrade on your Surf/4Runner? Or driven one with the upgrade, I'd be keen to hear your thoughts if you have.

                    Thanks

Cheer's Sean well your a student and i'm retired so guess were both pretty hard up for cash anyway if you do want anything shipping i'm happy to do that for you, even buy the item on your behalf as long as it aint a fortune, some sellers will only post to the regestered address with ebay so to avoid aggro etc, nothin i want at the mo but the option is good to know,

like i say we seem to get shafted here tax wise, case in point being my son who recently bought a classic Merc 380 SL needed a distributor cap and rotor, he was quoted by a Merc dealer here as £145 for the cap and £45 for the rotor! PLUS VALUE ADDED TAX AT 20%, he ended up getting them from the United States for £48 for the two, plus i think it was $20 shipping and when they arrived in the UK he had to pay £14.50 VAT and even with this is was still cheaper than buying here, and they were genuine Bosh parts,
it really gets up my nose the way were treated here, legalised robbery, its a wonder we aint born with our hands attached to our feet

Well i'd be more then happy to do this for everyone. like i said there are only two things I want from a surf: the compass doodad and the rear hatch. I wont be able to get the hatch because that is far too expensive. The monitor is possible though and in terms of car parts i don't think it's too expensive. As long as I come out spending less then $150 it will be a decent deal.

That really stinks how they tax you like that. But i'm not going to say anything dealing with the government. ha ha. There is no such thing as a perfect government, not while we are all human anyway.

regardless, I just found out that my 4runner is leaking power steering fluid so i need to have that inspected before I buy any "toys" but if any of you need something you can try and get something small for a test run. As I've mentioned before, I'm new to this as well and i am not knowledgeable of the customs laws.

Dont worry mate, what your suggesting is fine and could be very helpfull to members on both sides of the atlantic, number of times i've seen something on ebay from a US seller who's not prepaired to post overseas, and i'm sure it works the other way as well, after all we aint talking about a major bl00dy import/export arragement here ffs
