  • How desperate are you for parts?

Kind of an odd idea that I had today, over your way parts sound like they are hard to get and expensive, yet over in good old NZ I could buy a whole truck for what you guys pay for a bumper

What would the shipping cost be in getting things sent over your way vs buying locally?
I would be happy to help you guys out in finding stuff as you have help me many times in answering stupid questions that I seem to always have

Ild say larger parts like bumpers and engines ect would not be worth the cost but smaller things might work? Mabey as a last resort when parts are all dried up over your way?

Someone just give me an idea on how hard it actually is to find parts over your way and ill see if its a viable option

PS: when I say surfs are common here and parts are easy to find I mean so common that I work in a workshop of about 10 people and 3 of us have surfs and one has a double cab hilux
Its a new truck, Because every parts been replaced

Sorry if this sounds a little crazy, but how about a whole truck ?

It seems like the good folk of Burma are taking most of the late model surfs from Japan right now, so there is very little to be had at an affordable price.

What's the second hand market like over there and in particular are there any low mileage diesel SSR-G's circa 1996/7 for sale ?

      Many thanks.

PS: NZ dollar over to UK pound is pretty much half so a $6000 truck is about 3000 pound, whats the average price over there?

And cash is king over here most people can be talked down quite well from their asking price

AND........ We are in kms not miles so a 100,000km car is about 60,000miles isnt it? Rough conversion

But I really think that shipping a whole truck would be a killer to the price, im not familiar with shipping prices sorry

Thanks very much for that. It's very interesting to see what is available over your way ! The prices don't really stack up against ours all that well - if anything, I would say they are a little dearer where you are, but so much choice ! I guess I will just have to be patient until a nice one comes along here

Odd, I've sent 3 or 4 parcels to Oz recently has parts are expensive and hard to get there.

I don't think used parts are hard to find here TBH, the only things that are hard to get are things that are normally knackered already on breaker trucks, like Bumper ends, heads and 3rd Gen transfer cases, which I'd guess is going to be the same in NZ.

If you're patient and look around good 96/7 3rd Gens are around £3k here, Nice 3.0 2nd Gens around £1.5k
