  • Settling in to the new house

After a bit of a nightmare of a move, we're now tucked away from the hustle and bustle in an interesting old place from around 1850 with loads of character, only 10 minutes walk across Link Top Common to the best pub in the UK, the Nags Head.

We've also got a milk churn!

Several squirrels in here... (anyone ID this conifer for me? Really weird cones, green and very dense)

    And here... (hornbeam tree)

And some cracking old fire places

First two I think are original - the last two are old but later.

Got much work to do on (in) it?

Good luck with your new home.

Looking good, Andy. Did your mate's house escape further carnage?

Could just be a Fir Tree, are the cones upright and on top of the branches?

Yes, tightly packed green cones in clusters of 3 or so. The squirrels have been up there pulling bits off them.

Very little work to do on the place - bit of penetrating damp in the conservatory but that's about it. It's been sympathetically looked after. Need to line the garage though so it's nice and cosy for any future project.

Found some old plans for re-instatement of the original open sided porch with all it's intricate carved wood, so will start saving to pay for someone with the expertise to do it!

I am in the process of doing the inside of mine with 50mm polystyrene sheets,
Easy job, should make it a bit warmer in winter and cooler in the summer.

I lived in that area when I was working in UK, but then I got a got opportunity to move to Singapore. I's awesome here, very modern city. So now after 3 years of working here as an architect I'm finally able to purchase my own apartment, the prices here are insane) But this is a new build in a lovely district, here's the condo - https://www.piermont-grand-ec.com.sg
