Is that not just like an intercooler? Same benefits, a wee bit more bhp?

something else to go wrong, unnecessary and minimal benefits if any. water will eventually get hot as the engine does and the benefits if any will be gone.
well, that was a bad idea!

On the listing it says you can see the water pipes sticking down....I am pretty sure that they are 2 vacuum pipes, but I can't be sure.... ONe goes to the bottom of the engine head and the other I can't remember.

The question would be... If there was water cooling this , where would water cool enogh come from? The radiator water would be approx 90 degrees, providing no cooling at all for air that is usuall -20 to 45 degrees coming into the intake.......

Never heard of that on the 1 KZ-TE before, but interestingly, the marinised version of the engine comes with a water cooled exhaust manifold. http://www.nannidiesel.co.nz/files/p...20Brochure.pdf

Really not worth it on a Surf, the engine bay is already too crowded.
Far better to let the heat out to make the radiator more efficient.

ok now I see. Guess what? It's nothing but a standard manifold, but with the Venturi still attached and the same as all the 1KZ-TE Surfs. The 2.4s also have coolant flow through the Venturi. I believe the reason for this is just to cool this area when the EGR system is operating and introducing hot exhaust gasses into the manifold.

Very rare hey. That's very funny. Surprised nobody here even noticed that.

Most 2nd Gen 3.0 have those anyway! and all 2.4's.

Only the very last 2nd Gens don't have them, 3rd Gens seem to be 50:50

                          UK 4Runners don't.
