  • steering vagueness ?

    hi all,
having put 2"ball joint spacers in front along with the lift that was on surf,it feels abit loose on front, steering wise, and very tail happy in the wet,

its running 33 1250 15 bfg mts, which probably dont give great amounts of grip on wet tar anyway, but i thought it would be abit better,

main concern is the wobbly loose feel to steering,i have had camber set and 4 wheel alighnment done after fitting spacers, but just feels abit loose and twichy when driving, there doesnt seem any play on steering components,so could it be down to size of tyre..

If all that is correct then you're good as its going to get.

Try running more pressure to increase sidewall stiffness, but more pressure may make wet handling slightly worse.

As an off chance make sure the panhard rod isn't loose/broken or the bushes worn, this makes the back end float around.

How wide are the wheels that the tyres are fitted to?
Do you have a steering damper fitted?

It's not hiding Alan, the other Alan skipped it when we lifted the truck.

It made a huge differance to how my truck handled when I removed
my front anti roll bar, did'nt like it at all. I had lifted the truck, fitted
ball joint spacers and was running 33s. Reffited the arb and back to normal.
                  Still on a mission.

I wound down my torsion bars after fitting the BJ spacers. Although a nice compliant ride now over the bumps, it does handle like a barge.
Try winding them up a bit, together with the other advice you should be about there.
Oh, and refit the ARB unless you spend most of your time with the wheels stuffed in the arches off roading...
