  • 6-wheeled Landcruiser

I'm at another mining site in a tiny town called Leonora, this week. They fly the employees in and out using tiny little <40 people planes.

Anyway, today when working, they came and collected the gold bars and I was surprised to see them using a 6-wheel Landcruiser. I tried to get a photo but they were already driving off. It had a leaf-sprung rear. I would have liked to have seen the diff / axle setup to see how it was done. They only collect gold on Wednesdays so I think I'm out of luck.

I've got some scenary shots so I'll try and post them when I am back to the norm on Thursday. There is zero mobile phone signal and zero internet here. The "hotel" I'm staying in is really a make-shift / temporary office type cabins arranged together. Inside its just like a temp office cabin (like you get on building sites) however it has an AC system / heater, HD TV, Sky and en-suite.. quite odd.

The whole town reminds me of an old cowboy film.
    Oh Nana, what's my name?

Are you sure that you're actually in New South Wales, and not just South Wales, and it wasn't just this that you saw?

I'm in Leonora in Western Australia. I'm flying out in a couple hours.

Another interesting thing is that this bus tour was stopped at the hotel I'm staying. The bus is more like a rigid lorry but it's 4-wheel drive. Looked interesting.

I ended up watching a TV program last night called "your 4x4". About off-roading in Australia

Ah ha, I thought I was going mad and was the only one who has seen one

                BUT...... I have photographic proof!!!

I didnt get a chance to have a look under it to see how it was running the extra wheels but ild say that its still 4wd as it would be rather complex to have a 6x6 system setup
