Heard this week on local radio that Newquay airport is going to be the home of about 30 old aircraft for a museum. The aircraft are being flown in over the next few weeks and they will be flown quite often aswell
[QUOTE=BioHazard;770107]Been buzzed 3 times in the last week ..... the engine sound is awesome
Totally agree .
There are those sounds that are so evocative, and hearing that Merlin engine going from near stalling tick over at the top of a loop to flat out at the base of the drive the scream of the supercharger coupled with the roar from the exhausts is almost spine tingling.
Drove past newquay airport the other day whilst on my wet week away with wifey and there was a spitfire in some blokes garden and one parked outside on a trailer with the wings off...........
Google street maps just past east lodge on the A3059, lower right end of the big runway where the main road has a smaller white road in a ^ shape.....
Remember arrows are silent.....................
Don't forget to tell everyone its indestructable as seen on top gear.......
When you look at a spitfire up close you have to wonder how the hell those guys flew those things at such speeds and in combat as well, real "seat of the pants" stuff, just a bunch of alloy and rivits but it's such a beautiful aircraft, and that merlin sound!!!
anyone remember the bloke that stuck a merlin engine in a rolls royce? seem to remember he got through more clutches than fuel!
