  • Campsite recomendations

As i know there are a fair few campers on here, I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good sites within a couple hours drive of Doncaster. I am trying to avoid the large commercialised sites but wanting the family friendly smaller ones. Usefull links would be very appreciated as i am fed-up with searching.
Btw i already know about the naturist site just north of Donny but i thought the cold weather wouldn't do my manhood justice

I`m in Grimsby, you would be welcome to camp in my garden for a negligible fee

On a side note, Grimsby comes up as an incorrect spelling on spell checker, the suggested word is Grimy, which is about right!

Hull came up as "hole in the road" when I typed it in.

When i was asked to attend a drivers awareness course i had to go all the way to Hull for that, so the less said about that place the better.

C'mon, someone must have some good suggestions...

Nice, the section with the National Trust sites is pretty good. Thanks Lee.

There's a fair one on the top of Filey cliffs. Used to go there as a kid and am aiming to go on the 21st. If you google Filey Brigg campsite it should appear.

We go to a caravanpark just outside Barnard Castle,, County Durham, most weekends. Its called Doe Park, small and quiet , just right for a weekend get away. Notice at the front says they dont take tents but I've seen a few,but mostly touring caravans. Nice pub within staggering distance in the village of Cotherstone. Well worth a visit.

Thanks for the suggestions, I do like the Filey and Scarbrough area so am looking into that and also have emailed Doe Park to check on their position with tent accomodation as their site looks great.

                        Thanks again, Darren.

                          Hello Daz

if you divert off the A64 and go up the A169 into Pickering , go into the tourist information place next to North Yorks Moor Rail station, they have a list of camp sites printed on sheets of a4 we found a beauty up in the Dalby Forest it was run by a farmer, good showers and facilities ( also got you free access to the Dalby forest drive) ideally situated to visit Scarborough Whitby et al

Cheers John, i didn't even think about the tourist information offices. Checked out some reviews on the campsite you mentioned and it sounds lovely and peaceful, i bet my kids would soon change that quick enough!

                            Thanks
