Ok, just got the starter motor out, took about 20 mins, not as hard as I expected, and one of the contacts was as flat as a pancake Ordered the parts from local Toyota dealer and they'll be here Saturday, and came to £30.09
£30 doesnt sound cheap but that depends on the parts you get on Saturday.
£483 on rear wheel bearing and seals? I've not done the job and dont really know much about it but Milners do a rear wheel bearing, rear inner seal and rear outer seal all for £17.50. Is there more to this???
I didn't think 30 quid was bad considering what i would imagine the cost of a new or refurbed starter would be. The bits I've ordered were posted by Rich back in June, and he paid the same price.......£30.09. Just thought I would start by eliminating the smallest and cheapest things first.
Starter Kit, Motor Terminal (The bit the plunger hits and connects the starter motor) Part No. 28226-54220 £9.39
Fits 2LTE, 3L..LN13# IKZTE, 2L#, KZN130, LN108,112,85..4FC
Starter Kit, Battery Terminal (The other bit the plunger hits) Part No. 28226-54320 £5.78
Fits 2LTE, 3L..LN13# IKZTE, 2L#, KZN130, LN108,112,85..4FC

Not really Jim, just Toy dealers being !!!!!! expensive. Oh and that 3rd gens have abs which 'apparently' makes the job more difficult and requires extra parts. From what I can tell, the dealer cuts off all the stuff from the half shaft rather than spending hours trying to pull it all off. Here's the bill (without the Vat added).

Great info. Hadnt seen Rich's post coz I got fed up readin bout dodgy rear windows a long time ago and rarely visit the electric department (Rich is de department manager down there no doubt about it!)
I love info like that with part numbers n'all, its great to walk up to a parts counter and skip all the model/chassis no/import bull!!!!
Thats exactly what I did Jim, told him the part numbers over the phone, he looked them up, gave me a price and said he'll have them 8'o clock Sat morning....so I'm a happy bunny and big ups to Rich for posting and giving me the info............and the parts department is 10mins from me, so even better.
