  • Starting issues

Hi guys, im having a few problems starting the surf and wonder if the kit for sale on roughtrax will sort it? When I turn the key I can here the starter click but it wont turn over the engine, it will start after 3 - 8 goes and will start on the first turn when it feels like it! lol Sometimes it will just click then try and turn over but fades away and will start on the next turn, on Monday i saw the speedo needle shoot up to around the 50mph mark then drop back as the starter clicked any ideas?

    Thanks for any help, Karl.

Turn - click, turn - click, turn - click......

    Turn - wop wop, wroom?

If so a starter contact replacement kit will almost certainly sort you out. You can get them cheaper elsewhere but RT you'll get the correct parts and quick delivery. Don't leave it too long though as the wop wop vroom bit will soon cease. Lots of info on here on how to go about changing the contacts. It's an easy job once the starter is off...

You can check the size of your nuts (well, one of them) through the NSF wheel arch. Body lift = easy. Suspension + body lift = very easy. Standard = gynaecologists say it's a tw@t to get to.

            Starter off/refurbish/refit on a standard truck = all day + £20

            2" - 3" body lift = 4 hours (maximum) + £100

Starter off/refurbish/refit on a truck with > 1 1/2"ift = < 1 hour. How much value do you put on your time?

Would probably get a local mechanic (KP autos on here) to do the work, but need to make sure the kit will fit my truck.

Thats a good price, was that to remove the starter and fit the repair kit ? If so not worth getting your hands dirty let alone loosing all the skin off your fingers.
