  • Is it my imagination?

Are insurance quotes on Surfs getting more expensive? Best I could find last year was £320, £70 up than the previous year. there have been posts on this forum with silly prices being quoted.
Our friends with a P reg Surf clean driving licence etc are getting ridiculous prices. We are both in our sixties in "good" post codes with more than several years no claims.
If it carries on like this may decide to trade in for a Landcruiser!

Maybe it's just the 'high performance' diesels that attract higher premiums. Our '01, 2.7 petrol Surf costs £213 fully comp. with Flux.

Flux for me too , under 300 for the new truck.
Insurance premiums go up anyway each year due to more cars on the road and more careless drivers

Flux quoted me more than Admiral so I stayed with Admiral. Despite moving to a more urban and busy environment my quote came down from last year's premium.

We are with Adrian Flux. I think the underwriter is an offshore company based in Malta.

Flux sent me an automatic renewal notice for the Passat of 440. I got the cover from Quote me Happy for 251. Flux has lost both my polices this year the jimny went to A Plan

I've always used LV (through CSMA). Insurance quotes elsewhere always seem to be from "Quote me silly" whenever I try them.

Not got the Surf anymore so have my insurance suspended for the time being. I'm a named driver on the wife's policy for her Saxo. It's her first car & hasn't passed her test yet but I've read that insurance has rocketed for women because of the EU gender equality laws...

I see that the European Court ruling also affects blokes with private pensions too so that they will get less money in order to give equality between genders.

The problem is getting the right phone monkey, Flux being the perfect example.

LV, A1, SureWhatevertheyare, Direct Line, Sky and, many, many, more ... all say either no imports or no modifications, so it kind of excludes us.

I always cringe at the idiots on here that are economical with the truth to get insurance and I sincerely hope they get caught.

I've never had a sensible quote from Flux, my insurance has always been with A plan. Every year they send me a daft renewal quote, every year I shop around and go back to them and they either match it or manage to beat it by a couple of quid. But, Surfs do not seem to be cheap to insure generally.

                            Cheers

                            Ben

Had my insurance through Performance Direct for 5 years for the 2.4 - wanted to change to cover me for a 3.0 and price went from 240 to 670!!! Laugh...I nearly popped a ball A quick look on t'interweb and M&S (!) came up with 340 Fully Comp. Not just any insurance......etc.

Good idea methinks to shop around, easier now with PCs. Still can't believe how expensive it keeps getting every year, 31 years of unblemished driving (or never caught, depends how you look at it) good area in the sticks, alarmed, driveway and garage, etc thank God I don't live in the smoke.

That's me off the soapbox anyway...lol
Started wi' nowt and still got most of it left!
