  • Just as well he looked

Got a call from the landlord at local drinking hole asking why the nsf coil spring would have dropped past the seat on his wifes 57 plate Fiesta . I said it must have snapped the coil . When i looked I found a 6" piece of spring in the car port . He asked if I would help him replace the spring as he didn't have the tools . I suggested we change the pair for good measure as they should done as a pair . Just as weel he agreed as the osf was snapped aswell .
Got to say the quality of modern car materials is crap . All the bolts and nuts tried to shear or round out the allen key ways and were all heavily corroded. The bolts on my 1985 1st gen come out easier .

Fiesta now sits high again but think he will have to look at the rear next !!

Your right there, quality these days is non existant, they never think to grease bolts or owt, even the steel dosen't seem so robust, (or mayby i'm liveing in the past and looking through rose tinted specs)

No don't think you're living in the past.
I put LED side lamps in the surf a few months ago. took about 20 mins. Tried to put them in my Laguna a couple of weeks ago and it took all weekend (long story full of woe and dread). In the end I was so fed up I just put tungstens back in.

Wasn't this also a common problem on Vauxhall Vectras?

It's a common problem, not limited to any specific make or model. It's just that some fail sooner than others.

I think Nigel got it sorted
