Hand brake light comes on while driving

Guys,

I hope some one can point me in the right direction since I know as much about car mechanics as an ant .

Since yesterday morning, my handbrake light has flashed on a couple of times while driving. In all instances, it has come on when pulling away. It only stays on for a coupe of seconds and then goes off. Any ideas as to what may be causing this, I have checked and the handbrake lever is all the way down.
