My auto electrician does these. £99 for the first year. The company has a website you log into. You set a virtual fence up, and the monitoring alerts you if your vehicle is moved beyond that virtual fence. They also keep historical stats such as location and speed.

The money would be better spent preventing it from being moved in the first place wouldn't it?

True, I have a steering wheel lock & a road wheel lock + alarm & imobilizer.
Oh & it's kept in a "CASSOA" gold approved storage site.

Am I going a bit too far with this security thing.

Probably down his pants, nestled into those little blue curly pubes.

Yep, would be cheaper to move to a better area!

In a third gen at least a good place for GPS/Antenna reception is on top of the ventilation ducts, under the dash. Remember these sort of units need to be able to "see the sky" (through plastic will do) and get a mobile signal.

There is an awesome module for my Viper remote start alarm....

                          http://www.viper.com/SmartStart/

It's basically a GPS module that you can connect to with your smart phone, and carry out basic alarm controls and track it.

Not available in the UK yet. It would have been ###### handy just after Christmas when I was stuck in Cornwall and my alarm fob decided to die, leaving my truck locked and immobilised and blocking the driveway!
                          More Lift.
                          More Tyres.
                          More Engine.

I have an Avital system which is basically the same? I can get Smart Start too.

My alarm is / was over priced and of a lesser quality than the cheap Chinese / Hong Kong brands. American mades always lack on their quality. I'm pretty sure my proximity sensor is faulty, and it's the second one I've had under warranty. Its either not sensitive enough and doesnt detect someone trying to key the lock or its too sensitive and senses Jesus dying on the cross. My friend also has the same system and his does the same thing.
If I could tear it out and replace it with a £60 Magicar system then I would.
