3.0 steam under b

hi guys, i purchased my first surf last night after wanting one for years. On the way home after a short run on the motor way i noticed steam coming from the engine and the coolant was empty and i could here a boiling sound

The problem was solved the following day. I was thinking something along the lines of head gasket ££££, turned out it was a loose belt was tightened up and been fine for past week. now have the issue of not starting first time despite waiting for the click which takes around 30 seconds, glow plugs perhaps ??? any help.
