BTW nice laptop, but surprised it does not have Bluetooth. Although I do not have it on my unit I was advised to switch off the fingerprint reader as it can get to be a PIA.

Cheers checking out the link now..
I was surprised at the bluetooth, but it seems alot don't anymore... must be some reason why. My old compaq 6720s has it and has been very useful for transfering media to the phone and back. Oh well, will have to get used to plugging a wire in again!

Stay away from anti-Virus programs such as the ones made by McAfee, Norton, Kaspersky etc. Norton and McAfee will just slow your machine down and not provide the real protection. Kaspersky will slow your machine down and stop it from working.

You're better off with Microsoft Security Essentials (free) or Avira (free). Although Avira doesn't block malware, it is a plain antivirus and does not slow your machine down.
                Oh Nana, what's my name?

Free sounds good. I had to use hitman pro to get rid of a particularly nasty bug that kept opening random web pages, generally of the not so nice variety. It now does a scan when I start up, but not sure what "real time" protection it gives? Having said that I've not had a virus since. touch wood.

                      Mac v. PC

Oh, the tiresome, fractious PC v. Mac arguments. Grow up!
To the Mac knockers - I run 5 Macs, from Macbook to G5 & have done so for 6 years or so now without having to run virus protect proggys or having to re-format. All bar one G5 are hooked to the net. Problems to date? None. There is no pose factor involved in using Mac over PC for me, just a simple matter of program stability with the applications that I use. All new pro digital audio & lighting desk functions are remotely controllable from iPad/iPhone OS, not Android or Windows. Most pro audio software is for Mac OS for good reason - stability. It is the industry standard.
My brother is a chip designer & does all of his work on PC. Macs are not suited this kind of thing, primarily because of design software availability. Windows has a flexibility for his sort of work that OS10 for example, doesn't.
                      It's horses for courses.

On the plus side I suppose it is a reliable and well made piece of crap. If you want a second hand Toshiba M50 in good condition running XP which has a good spec for £100, it is available. Includes BT and wireless. We are only about 14 miles from your location.
What do you use Bluetooth for?

Transferring photos to PC. As we have an android phone, the BT does not allow transfer to the iPad so we have to transfer them first to a PC and then onto the iPad.

Can't you copy them over your wifi network?

Bluetooth would be very slow for pictures anyway.

Tried that and the iPad does strange things with the photos. Now send to PC and email to iPad. Wife is the one that uses phone and iPad as bought for her as a present so she would stop harassing me to download pictures on my laptop. Guess that was a failure on my part! LOL
