  • what a morning

Took truck for MOT, failed on a front shocker and wheel bearing that needs some adjustment and a knackered rear fog lamp. Pair of new shocks on order form Roughtrax, should be here tomorow. Also getting a wood burning stove fitted in the sitting room at home. Dust and soot everywhere, gonna take ages to clear up, but cant wait to toast my toes infront of the fire.

Soot? Have you had a coal fire in there before? My chimney was swept after about 2-3 years of fitting the log burner (yes i know!) and the sweep complimented me on how clean the flue was. Make sure you have hot fires and don't let it smoulder. Oh and get 4x the amount of wood you think you'll need!

House is over 200 years old and had a coal fire many many years ago. Had a gas fire when we bought the place 21 years ago. We are into day 2 of the fitting now. All the old fire place pulled out and gone and a brick chamber constructed, new flu liner and chimney pot are in. Hearth under construction and the stove ready to go in. Guys are comming back on Saturday morning to fit big oak beam above the fire and skim the chimney breast. So next weekend I can toast my toes. Big tree in the back lane may get smaller soon.

Waste of time doing it at this time of year, it will be summer next week.

I say summer, It will be a few degrees above freezing anyway.
If its not broke don't fix it.
