Hi guys gonna test a few surfs at the weekend and just wondered if there is owt i should look out for? Ive read the buying guide but is there owt else? Just a quick one lol if im testing a 2nd gen how can i make sure the 4x4 is a ok if nowhere other than tarmac to test it on as dont want the probs with locked transmission ect?

Just find something where it uses up all the articulation and see if the wheels in the air spin up. you'll know if there's any drive to the wheels then.
Also, pay close attention to the battery guage. if it's looking a little low (half or so) you'll probably run into the hail storm of issues.Still Can't believe I own a Hilux

You can switch the 4wd on and off on a straight bit of road without any issues.
The 4x4 light dosn't come on till all the parts are engaged, so as long as the light goes on and off again when you press the button on the shifter you can be pretty sure its all ok.
If it does stick on, just pull over and reverse up a bit turning the steering wheel and it will unlock.
