  • Quick question :)

Does anyone drive with the ECT button for the transmission constantly on?

If so does it make a difference on performance/mpg??

    Thanks
    Yes it's a V8, don't you know I'm loco?

I think it alters the RPM at which the auto box changes gear.

I've never pressed mine and I've had the Surf for 4 years.

I use it for over taking, keeps the engine in higher revs.
I wouldn't recommend having it on all the time unless you drive like a nutter & like filling up every day.

I sometimes use it at the lights for a quick getaway, drop it into second, ECT on & floor it, then into D once you've left everything behind.
If its not broke don't fix it.

Do you often race old ladies on pedal bicycles at the "traffic lights grand prix" in your Surf? ;-)

You may mock but I've beat 2 reliant robins in the past week.

nope, just changes gear higher up the rev range or kicks down sooner. Tbh it'd have to be a lot of power for me to notice.
