  • Ebay is so sh!te for car buying!

In the last week I've bought two cars off flea-bay - both times the deal has gone pear shaped!

The first time the guy rang me up, on the day of delivery, to say the "check engine" light had come on and did I still want it...now this could be something or nothing but since it was a Freelander V6 I decided against chancing it.

Then we bought another, again from flea-bay and this turned sour also: the guy selling the car didn't actually own it, it wasnt his ebay account, the location of the car was wrong so we bailed out.

I've never had problems buying vehicles off ebay before so whats going on? Is there a rash of crooks out there or what?

Also looking for a cheap but decent 3.0 Surf or 4Runner with 12 months MOT etc that can be bought , paid for and driven away.

I've had a few bad ones too.
One Jeep Grand Cherokee I got real cheap, then the guy told me the water pump had gone. I said I'll still have it, then he said it sounded like the engine had had it and it would be unfair to let me have it.
Needless to say it was back on Ebay the next week.

My wife did...and we got it "cheap". That's why we think the guy's engine light "suddenly came on"! Haven't found a decent Surf local to us and it seemed like a Freelander might be fun...however I have now been warned off the V6 petrol version.
