He's got some awesome prebuilt cars in there. I think he's open tomorrow but closed saturday.

Bit of a non info post here.
Went out and about to the local RC shops - didn't try Blackwell Street Steve, but will have a look tomorrow and see if there's anything good.
Bought one in the end from Model Craze in Brierley Hill. Type and Model tbc when I can get it out without Wolfie Jnr spotting it...

From what I could see a 1:10 scale half decent electric truck with a 2.4GHZ (might be wrong on that freq) controller START at about £250... Add on a spare battery, fast charger, kill switch etc and you're up to £350. Thats now in Nitro territory....
The build 'em yourself kits, £200+, but then you need the controller, batteries etc...

So, If it was for me, I'd have started with a Nitro one and built up my kit over time, but it's not and I think the temps on a Nitro are a little too dangerous for a 5 YO, and the fact they aren't strictly plug and play.

Will up date with some details later.

      Thanks everyone for the advice.

Either way, its a million times better than that piece of cr@p from Tesco.

This is the one I got for him. Caster Racing S10B RTR

        http://wcmodels.co.uk/index.php?main...oducts_id=1086

It's 90% upgradable, inc bigger motor and alloy components.

Although I'm not that keen on the body shape, the gubbins beneath are tip top. Wonder if you can buy a "truck" shaped piece of moulded plastic instead?

Had a little go around the kitchen and its blummin fast! I've already set all the throttle and steering response/sensitivity adjusters to minimum untill the boy gets used to it...
Spare battery on charge, ready to go.

Invest in a good quality LiPo battery mate, they will double if not treble the standard run times of a NiMh battery, I can get a good 34-40 mins out of mine. Just make sure you get a suitable charger though.

As for bodies take a look Here may need to knock up some different body mounts but something should be suitable.

            Yeah, what Growler said.
Throw the battery away (after xmas) and go LiPo.

              Liar liar

Sounds a bit like the Scalextric that my boy had to have when he was younger.....

                LOL!

I actually forgot the "for him" on my original post, but spotted it before it got quoted....

Damn you shokenore, seeing through my thinly veiled disguise!
