  • Decided to treat myself...

So I bought a set of Gen 7 Celica seats via fleabay.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2807636169...84.m1439.l2649

With a bit of luck I'll be able to flog the door cards & rear seats to make some money back too.

My dad has an old welding kit sitting in his garage. I've never done any welding before so I'm really not sure whether to do this as the first thing I've ever welded or just hand it over to my friendly neighbourhood garage and ask them to do it (shouldn't cost much).

I have to say, I'm fairly tempted to just get someone else to do it for me. It'll be easier and safer for a start and hopefully won't cost very much anyway...

I'm certainly looking forward to having more comfortable seats in the truck - particularly for the wife given her back pain/joint pain/mobility problems.

      They look great!
What is needed to fit them into a surf?
      I've got a 3rd gen with a knackered seat and can't find a replacement.

Smart! If your not familiar with welding I`d advise getting someone else to do it, its kinda important your seats dont break off lol.

Have you bought the seats from a different auction? The ad title says thats just for the rear?

Make sure you know whats on the underside of the floor before you make it glow.

They were a steal at that price mate. As long as the title is wrong and it's not just rears you have bought, or did you not read that part? oops

Have to admit I missed that and was going from the photo!

Still, have to wait for a response from the seller before I arrange collection so nothing lost if I've made a boo-boo.

Chances are they really are back seats mate....
get him on the cr@p picture, and tell him to do a deal on the seats....

If you have not paid then chase him mate, that picture was deliberate hook. Who sells rear seats only and puts a picture up of an interior.

Well, he's got back to me straight away & cancelled the sale without a problem and referred me to the listing for the front seats that he has. I've got back asking how negotiable he is on price given that they're listed at £60 and it's unclear how good they actually are from the photo. I suspect they're a bit knackered (listing mentions fag burn & wear n tear on drivers seat) so I'll probably give it a miss.

Shame cos I was quite looking forward to getting some nice replacement seats at a sensible price.

That's a shame rusty... The welding is pretty straight forward. It's the cutting off of the feet from your old set that's a pain. I paid someone to do it all. Think I was over charged for the work...still the gen 7 seats are one of the best mods we did on the truck.

Keep an eye out for others...got mine for £30 and he was local..I was just lucky and the welding upped the price.
                      .... Which was nice.

About how much was the welding, etc, for you?

I've got my eyes on a few things at the mo (some Impreza seats which I know will be easier to fit as well as some more Celica seats)

Gen. 5 Celica seats fit too and are cheaper than gen. 7.

                          e.g.

They don't feel as comfy as the cloth versions though, I've had both styles in different gen. 7 Celicas.

impreza seats are a hell of a lot easier to fit matey , 3 bolt holes line straight up, one just needs bending into place .
i dont even mind helping you fit them if you get any matey .
